PST No.7 Exercises 7P and 12T
The DSA SE (Supervising Examiner) will call your learner a trained student or a FLH(Full Licence Holder)for this Pre Set Test lesson briefing. Listen to the word picture given to you by the SE and take notes if you like. Remember your student may be a full licence holder, so no roof box is required.

You'll start this PST from wherever the phase 1 lesson ended. Your learner is now a completely different human being to the one you taught on phase 1. Any errors you fixed in phase 1 may reappear on phase 2. Don't make the error of thinking that you fixed those errors earlier, so they won't happen again.
For this PST, the areas to cover in your lesson briefing are:
- mirror, signal, manoeuvre MSM
- speed on approach
- stop when necessary
- overtaking on approach
- inviting pedestrians to cross
- signals by indicator
- signals by arm
- signals timing
Typical errors would include
- missing parts of MSPSL mirror checks missed, no signal
- approaching the crossing too quickly
- bad attitude to road safety
- late to anticipate the actions of pedestrians
- failing to see the crossing
- waving pedestrians to cross
- using misleading signals
- using incorrectly timed signals
- failing to signal
- driving too fast
The above faults may be used, as well as many others which you may never have seen before and probably never will see used by a learner driver, so be prepared. Use the following fault analysis check list.
