PST 10 Phase 2 Trained Progress/Hesitancy Normal Position
PST No.10 Exercises 11P and 8T
After the word picture from the SE or Supervising Examiner, you will go straight into the recap. Don’t forget this is now your time to take control and watch everything the SE is doing, especially when they go to move off, a prime time to throw a fault your way. Make certain they have done their Cock Pit Drill.
This level of student will have covered these areas before, so you don’t need to teach just, remind them of hopefully what they already know.
For this PST, the relevant areas are
Remember go through the briefing as a check list, and miss nothing out, and prove you are a professional driving instructor.
For this PST, these areas need to be covered:
- progress too fast
- progress too fast
- hesitancy
- normal position too wide from the left
- normal position too close to the left
Faults which the SE may throw at you, remember don’t get snow balled
- missing MSPSL, usual stuff.
- going to fast up to hazards
- generally driving too fast
- inappropriate use of speed
- driving too slowly
- undue hesitancy at junctions
- asking stupid questions
The above faults may be used, as well as many others which you may never have seen before and probably never will see used by a learner driver, so be prepared. Use the following fault analysis check list.
Fault Analysis
- Identify Fault- Say It
- What or Where Should?
- Why Should?
- When to Do/How To Do/How To Judge
- So Next Time?
- Prompt or Guide Next Attempt
- Praise When Done/Be Specific
Don’t forget your structure for the briefing
- Recap
- Lesson Objective
- Lesson Breifing
- Debrief
Make sure you cover all the main points and keep to the structure, don’t miss anything out, if you do cover it in the Debrief at the end, this is your last remaining chance. Remember Good Bad Good, always finish on a good note.
Blue Instructor Training will provide the most appropriate and up to date training to help you prepare the Part 3 examination
